The Role and team
The Release Management Engineering Team within the Quality Organization at Medallia is looking for a world class Release Manager to design, drive and own the delivery of the various Medallia platform and self-service products. The role includes the scheduling, coordination and management of changes across various portfolios as well as helping teams to manage and deploy changes into production.
As owner of the Release Management lifecycle, they will work collaboratively with the various Medallia R&D teams along the SDLC: Product Design and Development, Test Engineering, Continuous Delivery, SRE, Production and Managed Services to design, influence and execute on development and delivery processes and strategies. This position involves regular communication with the various levels of the organization. Therefore, excellent communication skills and strong technical competency are essential.
The ideal candidate has thrived and succeeded in delivering releases and managing changes across various platforms, services and technologies with complex dependencies in a very high growth environment where priorities shift quickly. They can prioritize well, communicate clearly and compellingly and understand how to drive a high level of focus and excellence.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of a change management process at the organizational level
- Partner with stakeholders to coordinate and assess change readiness
- Manage risk, dependencies and resolve issues that affect release/changes scope, schedule and quality.
- Support the release management process from planning and development to deployment and post-release support according to standard operating procedures.
- Forward-plan release/change windows and cycles across services and platforms.
- Work with engineers to understand the impact of code merges and branching.
- Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases/changes are delivered on time and according to goals and expectations.
- Track and report metrics and KPIs on progress and effectiveness of change and release management activities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in release management or in a related role (i.e. project management, change management in engineering domain)
- Demonstrated experience managing software releases / Infrastructure changes
- Demonstrated understanding of release and change management best practices
- Demonstrated experience working with code management, continuous integration and tracking tools including Git, Jenkins, and Jira
- Demonstrated experience in project management and coordinating cross-functional work teams toward task completion
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing software releases/infrastructure changes in a Saas/Cloud environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience with agile development methodologies
