The Role and Team

We are looking for a talented Staff Site Reliability Engineer to join our GovCloud team. As a Staff Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and availability of Medallia applications for our US Government customers and infrastructure in a highly available, secure, and scalable environment.


You will work closely with developers, DevOps engineers, and product owners to identify and resolve performance issues, automate deployment processes, and optimize system performance.


Responsibilities

  • Design and implement highly available and scalable infrastructure on AWS.
  • Ensure the reliability and availability of our applications and infrastructure by identifying and resolving performance issues.
  • Automate and utilize deployment processes using Git and CI/CD tools.
  • Monitor and analyze system performance and identify areas for optimization.
  • Collaborate with development teams to implement and optimize application architecture.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code scripts and templates with Terraform.
  • Manage virtual networking technologies, including VPNs, VPCs, and load balancers.
  • Continuously improve our systems and processes to increase reliability and efficiency.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24x7 support for production environments.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience with:
    • Infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
    • System and network security, FIPS compliance, and vulnerability management
    • GIT and CI/CD tools
    • Scripting languages (Python, Bash, Groovy, Go, etc)
    • Cloud Infrastructure monitoring
  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
    • Python and/or GoLang programming
    • Demonstrated experience with Git, Argo CD, and CI/CD tools
    • Kubernetes
    • Networking technologies, including VPNs, VPCs, and load balancers
    • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
    • AWS environment management (IAM, VPCs, EC2, Route53, etc.)
    • Linux OS and fundamental technologies like networking, DNS, Mail, IP filtering, etc.
  • Must reside in the US and be legally authorized to work in the US immediately.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with:
    • Detailed TCP/IP knowledge
    • Postgres, kafka, and redis
    • AWS Systems Admin/Cloud Engineer/Cloud DevOps certification
    • Exposure to Trusted Internet Connections (TIC)
  • Prior experience working with any federal agencies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and a strong willingness to learn.

Medallia is committed to equal pay and transparency. The annual base salary range for this position is $150,400 - $235,000 USD. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline and combines all of the distinct labor markets within the US. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors. Medallia considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, candidate’s work location, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
