The Role
As a Staff Software Engineer of the Medallia Surveys and Assets team, you will play a major role in taking our industry-leading SaaS platform to the next level. You will lead the innovation of our core platform, enabling our customers to listen to feedback and take impactful actions. You will design and build highly performant, scalable, and robust backend components for our user facing applications.
We are looking for motivated Staff software engineers to join our global team. You will solve challenging technical problems, own the team’s core components end-to-end, and help take our Cloud platform to the next level. Responsibilities
- Ship software that is scalable and robust and then keep it humming
- Design, implement, and drive the technical roadmap and product execution, while helping the team prioritize and plan pragmatically
- Identify gaps in knowledge, tools, or processes and work with your manager and Product Management counterpart to address them
- Navigate a large and evolving codebase with ease, supporting your teammates by sharing knowledge and finding opportunities for improvement along the way
- Incorporate the best development practices and habits and help build tooling to enforce the same
- Work in small teams with like minded engineers in an agile environment with daily standups, demo days, code reviews and research spikes
- Become a go-to person for one or several components in the whole system
- Mentor and coach junior engineers and impact teams through tech talks and presentations
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of commercial industry experience working on complex back-end distributed systems and enterprise-grade software
- 8+ years of demonstrated experience with Java or C++ (or another high-level object oriented language)
- Demonstrated experience with SaaS environments
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining software services that will be used by other teams
- Demonstrated experience implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
- Demonstrated experience with relational databases
- Demonstrated experience in Agile process
- Demonstrated experience mentoring less experienced team members
- Demonstrated experience working with a globally distributed team
Preferred Qualification
- BS/MS Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent degree
- Expert knowledge of Java 8+
- Experience with identifying performance issues and making the appropriate improvements
- Experience with Elasticsearch, Lucene, or similar
