The Role and Team
As a Software Engineer in the Speech Platform group at Medallia, you will expand and streamline our high-speed, state-of-the-art multilingual speech transcription server and surrounding systems. You will be involved in diverse tasks including investigating and tracing complex data flows, enhancing existing functionality, developing new flows and analyzing performance and accuracy of various ML modules. You will also become familiar with QA testing, building and packaging new components, CI/CD processes and validating full systems. You will need to be a superior learner, happy to dive into complexity and able to thrive in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility and self-management.
Due to the nature of this role, this role will require eligibility for necessary security clearances in the future.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient Java-based applications
- Collaborate with senior engineers to implement distributed systems
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
- Debug and resolve complex software issues during SDLC process
- Contribute to the improvement of our development processes and best practices
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related field
- At least 3 months of software development experience programming with Java, Python and related related frameworks (e.g. Spring, Hibernate)
- Demonstrated understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
- Demonstrated understanding of distributed systems concepts and technologies (e.g., microservices, message queues, caching systems)
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with version control systems (preferably Git) and CI/CD pipelines
- Understanding of backend systems like MySQL
- Knowledge of C/C++ or at least able to understand the logic behind legacy C/C++
- Knowledge in machine learning, deep learning and other AI use cases
- Familiarity with AWS SQS/S3/etc.
- Familiarity with ASR technologies
- Familiar with Linux OS and utilities especially Bash scripting
Medallia is committed to equal pay and transparency. The annual base salary range for this position is $86,500 - $132,000. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline and combines all of the distinct labor markets within the US. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors.
