Job Description

The Cloud Operations (CloudOps) team at Icertis is responsible for the availability, resiliency, performance, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning of the Icertis SaaS application and related services. CloudOps also handles identity and access management, role-based provisioning, upgrades, deployments, and change, incident, and problem management to drive faster time to market. This department plays a critical role in building and executing the cloud strategy as part of overall service delivery for the company.

We are looking for a self-motivated, growth-minded, and unabashedly detail-obsessed Microsoft SQL Database Engineer to join our rapidly growing USGov CloudOps team. This person will fill a critical role on the team, partnering with our Global teams to deliver and scale impeccable cloud infrastructure, work with Azure SQL Databases, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and PowerBI, as well as to improve and enhance our operations. The right candidate for this role is a knowledgeable MS SQL expert who speaks the language of SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) and PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service). This individual will be a passionate Microsoft SQL professional who is committed to secure databases, takes pride of ownership in their own work, and the success of our Azure Government customers. The US Government Cloud Operations (USGov CloudOps) at Icertis is responsible for Availability, Resiliency, Performance, Monitoring, Emergency Response, and Capacity Planning of the Icertis SaaS application and related services within the United States Azure Sovereign Cloud. USGov CloudOps also executes Identity & Access Management, Role-Based Provisioning, and Upgrades. The team also manages Deployments, Changes, Incident and Problem Management, to drive faster time to market. This department plays a critical role in building & executing the cloud strategy as part of overall service delivery for Icertis.

Icertis is continuing to generate significant demand in the US public sector and the USGov CloudOps team is at the forefront of defining, implementing, and continuously monitoring cloud and database security strategies to meet the rigorous federal security compliance requirements, protect our customer’s assets, reduce risk, and to empower Icertis’ federal sales team.

Responsibilities

  • Own, track, and resolve database related incidents and requests within established SLAs
  • Ensure Azure SQL Databases, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and PowerBI services run reliably and securely in production and non-production environments
  • Provide day-to-day database, and application, related operational support of product infrastructures
  • Perform incident analysis and troubleshooting, identifying, escalating, and communicating issues promptly
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, identify, escalate when needed, and resolve Azure SQL Database problems/issues
  • Develop strategic solutions for recurring problems with operations, engineering, and development teams
  • Work as an Azure SQL Database Administrator (SQL DBA), with additional responsibilities in system (Windows, Linux), network, and security administration
  • Support and participate in deployments, upgrades, incidents, problem and capacity management functions
  • Perform a variety of complicated tasks and provide support for escalated trouble tickets, in support of our internal customers and partners
  • Create and manage processes for the secure operation of customer cloud database environments
  • Engage in performance tuning, query optimization, and index performance, in concert with other internal Database Teams
  • Offer solutions to complex business problems and guide professional services in database-related areas
  • Work with waterfall & in a scrum or sprint lifecycle using a work item/ticketing queue to manage work
  • Ability to take a project or task from inception to completion, understanding when to escalate
  • Support Production Environments as part of a 24x7x365 on call rotation to ensure availability, resiliency, and performance meets our SLAs
  • Continuously maintain and/or improve the security of client environments and customer data
  • Create, update, and maintain documentation for systems, processes, procedures, infrastructure configuration, known incidents, FAQs, and applying lessons learned to new incidents
  • Collaborate with customer service, professional service, project/program/product managers, and engineers to ensure critical and time-sensitive projects run smoothly to achieve business outcomes
  • You are a passionate, continuous learner who keeps up with relevant, latest trends, technologies and tools in the industry
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned, such as assist with evidence collection during audits

Qualifications

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of running and working with Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Server PaaS databases
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft SQL programming Language and Database Administration
  • Thorough knowledge of how applications work and interact with databases
  • Should have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capability of taking complex, often technical, concepts and explaining them to those with little technical knowledge
  • Thorough knowledge of cloud concepts, mission critical cloud first infrastructures, applications, services, storage, compute, and networking components (preferably in Microsoft Azure)
  • Should have a customer-centric attitude and does not mind taking ownership of issues from others and driving them to completion
  • Strong self-starter initiative, able to meet deadlines, SLAs, and deliver results
  • Sound knowledge of best practices in database engineering and data security
  • Strong Windows and Linux Systems, network and IIS administration skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Thorough experience working in rapidly changing environments and working independently with multiple teams to clarify, validate, execute software requirements
  • Familiarity with ASP.NET/MVC/C# applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-changing, agile environment.
  • Azure Certifications (a plus, not a must have)
    • AZ-900 Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
    • DP-900 Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals
    • DP-203 Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate
    • DP-300 Microsoft Azure Database Administrator
  • Familiarity with compliance standards (HIPPA, PCI, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, NIST, FedRAMP, CMMC, IL3-5, etc.)
  • Interest in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, GenAI, and AI-driven solutions that power our contract intelligence platform
  • Experience with collaboration tools: Microsoft Teams/SharePoint/ADO
  • Working knowledge of Azure Portal/Azure DevOps/Visual Studio Code/Active Directory
    • Experience and working knowledge with a range of Azure IaaS and PaaS services
    • Experience or working knowledge of Elastic Search, Kibana, Azure Redis Cache
    • Comfortable using Azure DevOps (ADO) workflows
  • Working knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes and procedures
  • Familiarity with some or all the following Azure PaaS security resources:
    • Threat protection
    • WAF (Web Application Firewall)
    • SIEM (Sentinel), and Cloud Security Analytics

Salary range and description

Base: Min $110,000 - Max $154,000 USD per year

Pay offered will vary based on job-related factors such as location, experience, training, skills, and abilities. In addition to the base salary and annual bonus target and an equity component is included in the compensation package.
