About us

Owkin is an AI biotechnology company that uses AI to find the right treatment for every patient. We combine the best of human and artificial intelligence to answer the research questions shared by biopharma and academic researchers. By closing the translational gap between complex biology and new treatments, we bring new diagnostics and drugs to patients sooner.

Owkin has raised over $300 million and became a unicorn through investments from leading biopharma companies (Sanofi and BMS) and venture funds (Fidelity, GV and BPI, among others).

Owkin is seeking the best and brightest to join our fast-growing and dynamic team.

About the role:

The Translational Lead develops the exploratory biomarker strategy for our clinical studies, decides on appropriate methods of analytical implementation and data acquisition and interprets translational biomarker data from our early-phase clinical studies to shape forward looking clinical development. Collaborating with AI/ML data scientists, this pivotal role also ensures our AI-generated mechanistic hypotheses are suitably tested in the clinic generating a virtuous cycle of data flow that cross-informs clinical development and AI engine refinement. The initial clinical focus will be small-molecule immuno-oncology.

In particular, you will:

  • Be the translational strategy lead in matrixed cross functional research/clinical teams to devise and advance scientific/medical strategies for key translational milestones across the portfolio in direct clinical development and
  • Define and implement translational objectives and endpoints for precision medicine clinical study protocols to achieve rapid proof of concept and clear path to registration in molecularly defined patient populations.
  • Direct and oversee outsourcing and validation of clinical biomarker assays.
  • Lead the interpretation of data and their presentation in clinical study reports and publications; accountable for the design and execution of exploratory studies in Translational Medicine.
  • Articulate and implement a clinical biomarker strategy informed by and suitable to feed back to our AI engines with a goal of informing indication selection, personalized medicine, PK/PD relationships, prognostic and predictive biomarkers, biomarkers of response and resistance to therapy.
  • Work collaboratively with the Lead Physician and Head of Clinical Operations to ensure biomarker sample collection and analysis is both medically and operationally feasible.
  • Liaise closely with the Preclinical Research Lead to enable smooth bench-to-bedside and back again data flow and hypothesis testing including around rational drug combinations.
  • Ensure fit-for-purpose biomarker data is delivered from our clinical studies on-time and on-budget.
  • Manage the scientific relationships with the central lab and with third-party vendors of biomarker analytical services.
  • Present findings of exploratory analysis to the study team and to Owkin governance with a view to evolving our clinical study design to take advantage of emerging data.
  • Grow and develop collaborative scientific relationships both externally and internally.
