The Challenge 🧩

Your goal as a DevOps Engineer will be to ensure a secure & scalable platform, enabling all teams to innovate and learn fast in order to delight Wallapop’s users.

That means you will:

  • Participate in the design, evolution and maintenance of Wallapop’s cloud infrastructure
  • Provide engineers with the proper tools and processes to optimize innovation & delivery
  • Guide & train the engineering team about cloud infrastructure good practices
  • Give hands-on support to any incidence or blocker that arises in the day-by-day of the engineers

In order to achieve that, we use the following technologies, but we are always looking for new things to try:

  • AWS: ECS, RDS, CloudFormation, Lambdas, S3, CodePipeline & Security Hub
  • Java, Kotlin, Python & Bash
  • RabbitMQ
  • MySql, DynamoDb, Redis & Memcached
  • Docker
  • ElasticSearch & Solr
  • Grafana & Kibana

What You Will Do 👇

  • Maintain and improve a common infrastructure shared by product teams
  • Provide coaching and collaborate with product teams to improve their infrastructure and AWS best practices
  • Optimize our environments with a focus on agility and team productivity
  • Suggest and implement improvements to our CI/CD toolchain
  • Work towards introducing desirable features into your work: automation, HA, scalability, monitoring, and security
  • Infrastructure definition
  • Choosing the right tools for infrastructure management
  • Management of infrastructure requirements
  • Coaching and mentoring the Engineering team

What Would Be A Plus 🚀

  • Experience working in Agile environments (Kanban/Scrum, dailies, retros, etc)
  • High degree of autonomy
  • Experience leading project delivery from inception to closure
  • Data driven approach to work using real-time or historical metrics

📍 Do note that all our jobs are Barcelona based. We work in a mostly remote capacity offering great flexibility to our employees, but we believe in the power of getting together regularly in our office. As a first iteration, we expect a 4+ day/month office attendance for which the specifics are decided on a team level.

What does the hiring process for this position look like? 👀

**Please, note that all interviews take place remotely over hangouts.**

Intro Call - run by talent acquisition, focus on providing more information about the role and the company as well as going over your experience, motivation, and expectations. This usually takes 45-60 minutes.

Technical Task - you will be assigned a test that consists of an online coding challenge + a practical case to solve in order to assess the technical skills required for the role. You will have 5 up to 7 days to complete both parts.

Expertise Interview - run by the core team, focus on the hard skills and the ability to deliver in a given context. This usually takes 60-90 minutes.

Stakeholder Interview - run by the hiring team and relevant stakeholders, focus on the ability to collaborate & deliver in a cross-functional set-up. This usually takes 60 minutes.

Culture-Add Interview - run by culture interviewers, focus on adherence to Wallapop's purpose and business proposition. This usually takes 60 minutes.

Offer - should you be the right candidate, your offer will be discussed over a call with talent acquisition and will then be confirmed in writing.
