  • As a Data Engineer, you will partner and collaborate with Data Analysts, Data Scientists and Engineers to make high-impact decisions based on data. Your work will influence the future of Wallapop in many ways.
  • Every single day, hundreds of thousands of products are uploaded to Wallapop, millions of searches are generated, and millions of users trade goods and services on our platform. You will allow us to find the best insights into our business by providing fast and smooth access to data.

What You Will Do 👇

  • Work with a team of talented Data Analysts, Data Scientists and Engineers to provide the best possible data platform.
  • Support day-to-day issues that may arise unexpectedly.
  • Develop and maintain data models, warehouses, and lakes according to industry best practices.
  • Optimize data infrastructure for concurrency, query performance, and storage efficiency.
  • Implement high-quality, scalable data pipelines to integrate and provide access to diverse data sources.
  • Develop and maintain data streaming/real-time solutions.
  • Ensure thorough documentation and quality in both code and implementation.
  • Drive testing, optimization, and tooling to enhance data quality.
  • Elevate software development standards across data projects, including CI/CD, testing, code reviews, and cloud development environments.
  • End-to-end monitoring and alerting, from infrastructure to business metrics.
  • End-to-end data lineage and cataloging.
  • Data warehouse transformation layer with dbt.
  • Data lake standardization.
  • Increase elasticity of data infrastructure, primarily the data warehouse.

What We’re Looking For 🔎

  • Experience in data warehousing and data lake design patterns.
  • Experience in both batch, streaming/real-time solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in distributed systems, database design, and big data technologies such as Spark, Beam, Flink, or Kafka.
  • Proven experience in building and maintaining large-scale data warehouses and ensuring data quality at scale.
  • Expertise in data modeling and designing highly scalable and efficient data pipelines.
  • Good SQL and Python (preferably) programming skills.
  • Knowledge of BI tools such as Looker or Tableau for data visualization and reporting.
  • Proficiency in DevOps practices, including CI/CD, testing, and deployment automation.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data engineering solutions, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex data issues.
  • Excellent communication skills to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to recommend platform improvements for the short, medium, and long term.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, taking ownership of complex projects.

What does the hiring process for this position look like? 👀**Please, note that all interviews take place remotely over hangouts.**

Intro Call - run by talent acquisition, focus on providing more information about the role and the company as well as going over your experience, motivation, and expectations. This usually takes 45-60 minutes.

Take-home test - you will be assigned a task to submit within 5 up to 7 days where you will be able to showcase your expertise / technical skills required for the role.

Expertise Interview - run by the hiring team, focusing on the required core skills and the ability to deliver in a given context. This usually takes 90 minutes.

Stakeholder Interview - run by relevant stakeholders reflecting the reality of the context of the role, focus on the ability to collaborate & deliver in a cross-functional set-up. This usually takes 60 minutes.

Culture Interview - run by culture interviewers, focus on adherence to Wallapop's purpose and business proposition. This usually takes 60 minutes.

Offer - should you be the right candidate, your offer will be discussed over a call with talent acquisition and will then be confirmed in writing.
